Teacher

Speaking with a translator
The last day of our first camp, all of the campers (both the university students and the teachers) had an opportunity to share about their experience with us.  Many students stood up and thanked the staff and volunteers, however, the story of one teacher who was attending the camp stood out amongst the rest.

The teacher was at the camp to see how we train and value volunteer leaders.  One of the sessions that Jeff spoke at was about working together as “One Body.”  This, by the way, was an absolute blast.  Jeff was able to essentially teach on 1 Cor. 12:12-27.  Without citing the Bible, Jeff spoke about serving as one body, that all the parts are equal and working together.  Very fun…

Anyway, at the end of the camp the teacher said that the all of the training times that Jeff led were very powerful.  But the most powerful thing wasn’t what he said.  The greatest impact on the teacher was that she was able to see that our team was working at "one body to accomplish one purpose." What she saw was the body of Christ in action.  She put into words the exact hope that our team had for the camp, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all of our words and actions.

What a gift it was to be able to serve the national team of staff and leaders during this camp.  Even though we weren’t able to proclaim the Gospel directly, the way that we loved one another and served the students showed everyone that God is Good News.
